Peekin"

I had a great idea for the color challenge. I worked on it again last week and was pretty satisfied with it and took a photo. When I went to upload the photo to the blog, I was aghast. It looked garish and awful. Back to the drawing board. I'm not sure what happened between the original and the photo, maybe I am looking at my work thru rose colored glasses. I write down some goals that have nothing to do with my art. But they are very important to my recovery. I have also beemn reading an interesting book, "The BRAIN that CHANGES ITSELF" by Norman Doidge, M.D. Hello Doctors and therapists, Why aren't you implementing these practices for us? They won't hurt and may HELP! I'm determined to see if they will work for me. Stay tuned...

My peek

Well this is just a really cool color shot. Love the lines and the texture. But no, this is only a little bitty peek at what I am going to do. It is all done in my mind......now to get working. Boy, am I learning how uncomfortable I am with many colors. Way too "in my face"! I am sure this is why the theme was chosen. Good job.  Helen Moreda

COLOR

First of all, let me say that what you guys have posted so far has lots of color. Wow! I am excited to see the finished pieces. So I am posting what I was working on here. It's a little weird and very untraditional, but I like it.

Sneak peek

Here is just a tiny peek.... I am sewing down the binding down.
I loved this Challenge .
Hi, I give you a first glance at my color piece. It is not quite finished. I did find it rather hard to imagine color in these cold and mostly foggy winter days, we still have here.

Sneak peak

Here is a portion of my color quilt. I decided to cut up scraps of batik with a wavy rotary cutter and sew them together with lots of free motion quilting. I used Mokuba...a sticky back material that washes away. It has a cover sheet that also washes away so you don't have to deal with loose threads or bits of fabric getting caught while you are quilting. I am still in process with this one but having lots of fun with color.

Color Peek

Here is my peek for the second challenge: color. I have it completed except for a label. I have used my own hand dyed fabric, thread sketching, applique and both machine and hand quilting.

This is actually my second attempt as my first fell short in size. I was thinking to myself that 2 - 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper equaled 11 x 17 and ended up somehow with a finished piece that was 8 1/2 x 17. I do like it alot and will post it as well. I have named it Color Coded. It is simply done with the piecing and quilting in the same stitch. It has both hand dyed and commercial fabrics in it.
